Preparation
In a bowl, combine ground turkey (6 oz) with garlic powder (½ tsp), onion powder (½ tsp), salt, and pepper. Mix gently and shape into one or two patties.
Heat butter (1 tsp) in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the turkey patties for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F). Set aside.
In the same skillet, melt another teaspoon of butter (1 tsp) and add the sliced onions (½ small onion). Cook over medium-low heat for 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and caramelized. Remove and set aside.
Add the final teaspoon of butter (1 tsp) to the skillet and sauté the mushrooms (½ cup) for 3–4 minutes until browned and tender. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise (2 Tbsp), mustard (1 tsp), sugar-free ketchup (1 tsp), dill pickle juice (½ tsp), and smoked paprika (¼ tsp) to make the special sauce.
To assemble, layer the chopped lettuce or mixed greens (1 cup) in a bowl. Top with sautéed mushrooms, turkey burger patties, and grilled onions. Drizzle generously with the special sauce and serve warm.
Some parents are choosing to raise their children on a nutrient-dense carnivore diet—built around meat, eggs, bone broth, butter, and organ meats—instead of relying on processed cereals or puréed fruits and vegetables, and many report benefits like better sleep, calmer moods, and easier digestion. While some pediatricians remain cautious and admit the diet challenges conventional guidelines, others recognize that it may offer advantages over the high-carbohydrate, processed-food diets most kids consume today, and are beginning to reconsider what “balanced nutrition” for children could look like.
