Butter-seared Greek-seasoned salmon topped with cool, creamy tzatziki sauce and a drizzle of olive oil.

More evidence emerges that the use of statins to lower cholesterol may be counterproductive in preventing heart failure.

Preparation

Make the Tzatziki: In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, grated cucumber, garlic, and dill. Season with salt and pepper. Stir well, then chill while the salmon cooks.

Cook the Salmon:

  • Air Fryer (Crispy & Easy): Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Rub the salmon with the spice mix: oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Place in air fryer basket skin side down. Dot with butter on top. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, depending on thickness, until flaky. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil and a squeeze of lemon.
  • Oven (Roasted & Juicy): Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place seasoned salmon in a butter-greased baking dish or sheet pan. Dot with butter and roast for 12–15 minutes, or until cooked through. Broil for an extra 1–2 minutes if desired for color. Drizzle with olive oil before serving.
  • Grill Pan (Seared & Smoky): Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat. Season salmon and place skin side up in the hot, butter-greased pan. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, flipping carefully. Once golden and cooked through, remove from heat and drizzle with olive oil.

Serve: Plate the salmon and top with chilled tzatziki sauce. Garnish with fresh dill or lemon wedges if desired.

Though cholesterol levels may be lowered, statins can inhibit vitamin K production, a substance critical to preventing plague buildup in arteries.
